Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has agreed a new contact with the Camp Nou giants that will see him extend his stay at the club until 2029.
Flick has been a huge success at Barca since taking command of the club in the summer of 2025. He led them to the league and cup double last season and is on course to secure the La Liga title again this term.
Under contract until 2027, the Catalan side have acted promptly to secure the 61-year-old German’s future for another couple of years.
There is a verbal agreement in place for Flick to sign a new deal, as Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg confirmed on X:
“Hansi Flick and his agent Pini Zahavi have now reached an agreement in principle with FC Barcelona over a contract extension.
“Understand the final details are set to be clarified on site next week between Zahavi and Barca.
“A new deal until 2029, including an option, is currently on the table.”
Hansi Flick’s outstanding Barcelona record
Flick’s record at Barcelona has been formidable. He has overseen 112 games at the helm of the Blaugrana and has picked up victories in 85 of them. Perhaps most remarkably, he has seen his team score 310 goals in these games.
In La Liga, his record stands up against any Barcelona manager in history. Flick has won 2.44 points per game in charge of the Blaugrana in the Primera Division, which is a better record than Luis Enrique’s (2.41) and falls only marginally short of Pep Guardiola (2.45).
The German also appears to have installed a harmonious atmosphere in the Barca squad, which comes in direct contrast to that at rivals Real Madrid, where chaos has reigned throughout this season.
Amidst a background of difficult economic circumstances at Barcelona, Flick has provided steady guidance both on and off the field, creating a team that is both exciting and successful. With the core of this squad still young, it is a logical decision for the Catalan club to have the former Bayern boss spearhead them for the next three years.
