NNL Super-4: Sporting Lagos Provided Formidable Competition In Promotion Battles – Joseph Eno

Newly promoted Sporting Lagos FC have been tipped to put up a commendable performance next season in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), as their performances in the lower division were rated as ‘formidable.’

Sports247 reports that this verdict came from the chairman of Akwa United of Uyo, Joseph Eno, who congratulated Sporting Lagos for edging ahead of his team in the promotion war from the second-tier Nigerian National League (NNL).

As Sporting Lagos prepare to battle Inter Lagos, Doma United and Ranchers Bees at the NNL Super-4 in Ikenne, Ogun State, where the division’s champion will emerge from Monday up till next Friday, May 8th, Eno added that he is wishing them well.

He also asserted that lessons learnt from the highly competitive season in the NNL will spur Akwa United to aspire for promotion back to the NPFL next season, even as he assured their fans that The Promise Keepers will come back stronger.

Eno pointed out that Akwa United placed just one point behind Sporting Lagos in Conference B of the NNL, which he admitted was painful, but accepted it in the spirit of sportsmanship, especially as they ended with a 2-1 win over Solution FC.

“We congratulate Sporting Lagos for their achievement. They provided formidable competition throughout, and the promotion battle went down to the final day.

We are disappointed but proud of our effort. We will come back stronger, better prepared and ready to secure promotion next season,” Eno affirmed.
