The grand finale, held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the N.U.D Playing Ground, Olose, saw Fortune Football Academy fall narrowly to Sharp Striker FC, losing 9-8 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Quadri once again proved his importance on the big stage, opening the scoring in the first half with a composed finish to give Fortune FA the lead.
The goal took his tally to nine in six matches at that point in the competition, underlining his consistency in front of goal. However, Sharp Striker responded late in the game, with Chidindu Goodluck finding the equalizer just minutes before full time to force a dramatic penalty shootout.
Despite the final result, Quadri’s individual brilliance throughout the tournament stood out. His goal-scoring exploits were a major driving force behind Fortune FA’s impressive run, and his ability to deliver in crucial moments earned him deserved recognition as the tournament’s top U13 player.
Beyond the championship, Quadri has continued to showcase his attacking prowess. In a recent friendly match, he added four more goals to his tally, bringing his overall record to an impressive 13 goals in seven matches for his side.
His combination of sharp instincts, positioning, and composure in front of goal marks him as one of the most exciting young prospects in the competition.
While Fortune FA fell just short of lifting the trophy, Akanbi Quadri’s performances ensured he left the tournament as one of its brightest stars, with his Best Player award serving as a testament to his exceptional talent and impact.
