Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on Thursday that activists on board the aid vessels bound for Gaza detained by Israel’s military on international waters will be taken to Greece.
“In coordination with the Green government, the civilians who were transferred from the flotilla vessels to the Israeli vessel will be brought ashore in Greece in the coming hours,” Saar wrote on X, thanking the Greek government “for its willingness to receive the flotilla participants.”
“Israel will not allow the breach of the lawful naval blockade on Gaza,” the statement added, calling those delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza “provocative”.
The Global Sumud Flotilla aid mission reported earlier that at least 15 boats were raided off the coast of Greece and were “abducted” by Israeli forces late on Wednesday.
The Israeli foreign ministry said that approximately 175 activists were in Israeli custody.
So far, Israel – through the IDF – has successfully blocked attempts to breach the lawful naval blockade on Gaza and the arrival of vessels from the provocative flotilla, including last night.
