A Christian nun was injured on Wednesday after an attack by an Israeli settler in Jerusalem, according to a local human rights organisation.
The Al-Baydar Human Rights Organization said the nun was assaulted in one of the city’s neighbourhoods, resulting in injuries and heightened tensions in the area.
The organisation said the attack comes amid a rise in violations against civilians in Jerusalem and surrounding areas, including incidents targeting Palestinian residents and religious sites.
It added that attacks by settlers have increased alongside restrictive measures imposed by Israeli forces, including checkpoints and limitations on access for worshippers to sites such as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Reported incidents include harassment of clergy, assaults on pilgrims and damage to church property and historical cemeteries.
According to human rights groups, these developments reflect a broader pattern of pressure on the local population, amid what they describe as a lack of accountability for such actions.
