Balmoral Promotions: Elvis Ahorgah To Fight In Lagos This Friday Against ‘Forgetful Opponent’ From England

Ghanaian middleweight boxer, Elvis Ahorgah (The Soldier) is set to enter the ring this weekend in Lagos against an opponent who forgot his gloves in England and did not turn up with his trainer, Sports247 reports.

The forgetful boxer is Joe Laws, who has sensationally turned up in Lagos as a one-man army, as ‘The Volatile Geordie’ arrived without anyone to back him in the corner during the fight billed for this Friday.

The official explanation, though, is that Laws’ trainer could not travel with him due to family commitments, while his strength and conditioning coach was unable to get time off work, thereby leaving the Brit with a friend to lean on in Lagos.

However, Laws believes he can beat Ahorgah, whose three wins in 2024 via technical knock-out over Gabriel Adoku, Stephen Abbey and David Okine earned him a bout with Callum Simpson for the Commonwealth super middleweight belt.

While holding Nigeria’s flag aloft, Laws declared: “It’s a fight, do you know what I mean? Give us basic fighting knowledge. Basic fighting. If you can see shot what I can’t see. Give us water. I think too many people these days want hand fed.

“They want eight pad sessions a day, and of the day you’re a pro, you’re fighting. I know what I’m gonna do. I’m 31, if I was 18-19, different story. I’m 31 now. I’m not gonna change. I’ve gotta be cute, be smart, get inside and smash this.”
