Manchester United have named their price for an in-demand star whose ‘days are numbered’ at Old Trafford ahead of the summer transfer window.
United are expected to make wholesale changes to their squad this summer as they prepare for a return to the Champions League after a two-year absence.
With costly stars such as Elliot Anderson and Yan Diomande on the club’s shortlist, United will need to make sales in order to fund their anticipated business and exceed the near-€250 million they spent last summer.
Talks are scheduled to be held this week to provide clarity on the futures of a number of stars who are expected to leave the club, with as many as ten players set to be on the chopping block.
One of those players is likely to be Manuel Ugarte as United look to make at least two marquee midfield signings this summer and the player’s representatives are set to meet with super agent Jorge Mendes to help facilitate the 25-year-old’s exit.
That is according to Uruguayan reporter Rodri Vazquez who claimed that Ugarte’s ‘days are numbered’ at United, with the club aiming for a permanent sale worth around €28m.
Ugarte ‘95% likely’ to make Man Utd exit this summer
Ugarte joined United in 2024 for €50m but the midfielder has struggled to nail down a regular place since his arrival and has only made eight Premier League starts this season.
United are keen to replace the Uruguay international with an elite on-ball midfielder, particularly with Casemiro also set to depart, with the likes of Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton on the club’s shortlist.
Ugarte has been linked with a move to another Premier League side such as Newcastle but it is believed that Atletico Madrid and Napoli are the most interested in the ex-Paris Saint-Germain star.
Galatasaray and Juventus are also expected to be in the running for Ugarte’s signature, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting that the player is ‘90-95% likely’ to leave United this summer.
Talks will also be held by United over potential departures for players such as Joshua Zirkzee and Altay Bayindir as well as loaned out stars Andre Onana and Marcus Rashford.
