All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Joao Pedro, Anthony Gordon and Eli Kroupi.
Barcelona like Pedro
Barcelona “really like” Chelsea striker Joao Pedro, according to Cadena SER.
This appreciation has been confirmed by former Blaugrana star Bojan Krkic, who now works for the club as a football coordinator. He revealed that he previously spoke to Pedro and his representative during the Brazilian’s time at Brighton.
“A year and a half ago, I spoke with his agent through Ansu Fati,” Krkic explained. “I spoke with the player, and he directed me to his agent without any ulterior motive, simply to keep him in mind for a potential move to Spain.
“I liked him a lot. He’s a complete forward who [Carlo] Ancelotti really likes, and he can play as an attacking midfielder or a striker. I see him as very good in tight spaces, and he’s ideal for Barca and for what [Hansi] Flick wants.”
Gordon interest confirmed
Chelsea’s interest in Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon has been confirmed by The Athletic.
The England star is expected to leave Newcastle this summer amid strong interest from Bayern and Arsenal. Chelsea are now also among his admirers as they look for an upgrade on Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens.
However, Newcastle will not sell Gordon cheaply. Reports on his price tag have varied considerably, and the latest information suggests that the St. James’ Park club are now demanding as much as €92m for the attacker.
Chelsea told to sign Kroupi – next year
Chelsea have been urged to sign Bournemouth attacker Eli Kroupi by former player Florent Malouda.
The France international has been one of the revelations of the season and is attracting widespread interest. Man City have been linked with him in recent days. However, Malouda believes that Kroupi could be ideal for Chelsea after another season with the Cherries.
“He’s a very good talent,” Malouda said. “He did very well last season, one of the top players in France, and I’m very happy to see him doing well this season as well. I believe he needs to confirm it for one more season, at least in the Premier League.”
Chelsea in Stiller race
Chelsea are in the mix to sign VfB Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, as per BILD.
The Germany international is ready to take the next step in his career this summer and is fielding interest from numerous clubs, including Man Utd and Juventus. Chelsea are also keeping tabs on him.
The 25-year-old’s €40m release clause is expected to be bought out by Stuttgart in exchange for a €2m compensation fee, which will allow the club to freely decide his price. He is currently valued at €45m, but his cost could increase if he makes Germany’s World Cup squad.
Farioli happy at Porto
Chelsea manager target Francesco Farioli insists that he is happy at Porto and is not thinking about a departure this summer.
The Italian has emerged as an option for the head coaching position at Stamford Bridge after doing a remarkable job in Portugal, where his Porto side are seven points clear of Jose Mourinho’s unbeaten Benfica.
Farioli was already a target to replace Enzo Maresca in January, but he was unwilling to leave Porto mid-season. It seems that he is also not keen to jump ship in the summer. “I’m the coach of Porto, and I’m really happy to be here,” he said at the weekend.
