All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Victor Osimhen, Julian Alvarez and Anthony Gordon.
Berta following Osimhen
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta was in Istanbul to watch Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen in action, according to AS.
The Italian was pictured speaking to senior figures of the Turkish giants, and it is believed that Osimhen and his potential availability were one topic of discussion. Berta reportedly also paid close attention to Ugurcan Cakir and Baris Alper Yilmaz.
Arsenal will likely sign a forward this summer, but it is unclear if they are willing to break the bank on the Nigerian, who only moved to Galatasaray permanently for a whopping €75 million last summer. Any deal would be north of that figure, and that’s not even taking into account his gigantic wages, which previously ruined a Premier League transfer.
Alvarez interest confirmed
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has confirmed that various clubs, including Arsenal, are interested in Julian Alvarez.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with the Argentine for weeks, but a deal is difficult to do because of Atleti’s reluctance to sell. Sky Sports reports that the striker could cost as much as €150 million.
“I’m not inside Julian Alvarez’s head,” Simeone said. “I understand it’s normal that an extraordinary player like Julian Alvarez is wanted by Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona. It’s normal because he’s very good.”
Meanwhile, both Alvarez and his agent Fernando Hidalgo have also commented on a potential summer transfer. The 26-year-old insisted that he was unfazed by the speculation, while his representative dismissed reports that the striker had begun house-hunting in Barcelona.
Chelsea join Gordon race
The Athletic has confirmed reports that Chelsea have entered the race to sign Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon.
The Magpies star has been strongly linked with Bayern Munich and Arsenal in recent weeks, but the Blues are now also showing an interest in the England star, who is understood to be keen on a move to a bigger club.
However, Newcastle won’t make life easy for his suitors. Reports on Gordon’s price tag have varied considerably. The latest fee being touted is an eye-watering €92m.
Romano on Kvaratskhelia
Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that PSG forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is not for sale this summer.
The Georgia international has been tentatively linked with Arsenal, who are known to be in the market for a superstar left-winger. However, a deal is virtually impossible because PSG are not keen to sell Kvaratskhelia after just 18 months.
“From my understanding, PSG also have no intention of negotiating his departure this summer,” Romano said. “Despite the rumours, the situation remains completely quiet.”
