Curtis Jones is ready to leave Liverpool this summer unless he becomes the ‘main man’ under Arne Slot, according to a new report.
Jones has been at Liverpool since the age of nine and has gone on to play more than 200 times for the club, including 30 Premier League appearances this season.
However, just 14 of those have been starts and the 25-year-old is approaching a ‘crossroads’ on Merseyside, according to The Times, with Jones’ contract set to expire next summer.
Liverpool are keen to avoid the looming threat of another star player potentially leaving on a free transfer and Jones is said to have a preference to remain at his boyhood club ‘if he could be the main man’.
While Slot has stressed Jones’ importance to the squad, it is expected that talks will be held over the player’s future at the end of the season amid a potential summer departure.
Interest has previously been strong in Jones, with Aston Villa monitoring the situation, while Inter could return after making an loan-to-buy approach for the midfielder earlier this season, which Liverpool had no interest in entertaining.

Jones is still highly-rated at Liverpool but the England international has largely featured as a squad option, even filling in at right-back in his most recent performances.
Despite Liverpool’s struggles this season, Jones has failed to nail down a starting role in Slot’s midfield and there are doubts over whether he will ever be seen as a crucial first team player under the Dutch coach.
Jones has impressed during his performances and he sits among the top two midfielders for passes per 90 minutes, passing accuracy and carries per 90 minutes.
However, Jones has been capped just six times by England and is unlikely to be selected by Thomas Tuchel for the 2026 World Cup, suggesting that he may need to find a bigger role elsewhere to prove his international credentials.
There is still a chance that Liverpool could give Jones a more prominent role next season, particularly with doubts over the long-term future of Alexis Mac Allister, and the academy graduate may not be ready to give up on his Anfield dream just yet ahead of the showdown summer talks.
