A senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that any new attack on the country would be met with a stronger response, amid escalating regional tensions.
Mohammad Jafar Asadi said Iran “is not Venezuela to have its resources plundered”, stressing that Tehran would respond forcefully to any further military action.
Speaking to journalists, Asadi added that the United States and Israel are attempting to exert pressure over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but insisted that this “will not happen”.
“We tell the Americans that Iran is not Venezuela for you to plunder its resources. If you launch a new attack, you will receive a stronger blow, and the Iranian state and people will stand against you,” he said.
The remarks come as tensions remain high following the recent war involving Iran, the United States and Israel, with disputes over control of the Strait of Hormuz and broader regional security continuing to hinder efforts to reach a lasting settlement.
