Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, criticised European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen over her comments on maintaining sanctions against Tehran.
Von der Leyen said it would be “too early” to lift sanctions, citing human rights concerns and the need for a “fundamental change”.
Baqaei rejected the remarks, arguing that the sanctions harm ordinary Iranians, and accusing European leaders of double standards.
