Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed they will not activate the €65 million buy clause included in Nicolas Jackson’s loan deal.
The Senegal international joined Bayern on a temporary deal for the 2025-26 season, after falling out of favour at Chelsea, with Vincent Kompany’s side paying a fee of €16.5m to secure his signature for the campaign.
The agreement also included an option to make the transfer permanent for €65m, but rumours throughout the past few months have indicated that Bayern are unlikely to trigger this clause during the upcoming summer window.
Jackson has, unsurprisingly, played second fiddle to Harry Kane this season and despite notching 10 goals in just 29 games for Vincent Kompany’s side, he will not be joining the club for €65m this summer.
That is according to Eberl, who told ZDF (via Sky Germany): “We will not trigger the option for Nicolas Jackson.”
As a result, Jackson will instead return to Chelsea ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Jackson’s temporary Chelsea departure came after two red cards in quick succession at the end of last season and a falling out with Enzo Maresca.
However, the Italian left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent on New Year’s Day and the Blues are once again searching for a new permanent boss following the sacking of his replacement Liam Rosenior on Wednesday.
A deal has already been finalised for Strasbourg striker Emmanuel Emegha to join Chelsea this summer, but the club are understood to still be in the market for another forward amid significant rumours that Liam Delap may be sold after just one season with the west London giants.
Jackson could therefore feasibly be reintegrated into the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge, with youngster Marc Guiu likely to be sent out on loan.
While the Senegal star endured a difficult end to last season, the first 18 months of his Chelsea career were promising, despite a number of glaring misses, and bringing him back to compete with Emegha for the back-up role to Joao Pedro would be a smart, and cost-effective, solution.
