A fine of N1m has been stipulated by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for any state that fails to stage its final of the 2026 FA Cup this weekend.

Sports247 gathered that only Lagos State has been exempted from the nationwide schedule of the Presidents Federation Cup finals this weekend.
This is sequel to an earlier notice tendered by Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) that ‘an official event’ will hold the same day at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, which is their preferred venue for the match.
Consequently, while 35 state capitals across the country will witness pulsating finals this weekend, action will be delayed until Sunday, May 3rd for the ultimate clash to occur in Lagos.
A media statement from “The final matches of this year’s President Federation Cup competition will take place in 35 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory this weekend, with only Lagos State exempted after a formal request that has been granted by the NFF.
“As was announced last month, all final matches in the States and the FCT are to hold on Saturday, 25th April or Sunday, 26th April, with the national play-off to follow before the draw for the national competition.
“NFF’s Director of Competitions, Ruth David reiterated that failure of any state (apart from Lagos) to play its final match this weekend will attract a fine of N1,000,000,” a media statement by the communications department disclosed.
