The death of former Super Eagles’ striker, Michael Eneramo in the early hours of Friday caused ripples of sadness to roll through the corridors of Galatasaray of Turkey, and the club issued a formal tribute in his honour, Sports247 reports.

Although Eneramo never featured for Galatasaray, who currently have Super Eagles’ hitman, Victor Osimhen among their players, the Istanbul-based Turkish Super Lig champions recalled that he played many matches against them.
That was because four other Turkish clubs previously signed Eneramo, who was produced by Lobi Stars of Makurdi in the Nigerian league and, since retirement in 2018, lived in Kaduna where he met his untimely death at the age of 40.
He scored 31 goals in more than 100 Turkish Super Lig games, while playing for Sivasspor, Besiktas, Istanbul Basaksehir and Manisaspor, but his many exploits in Turkey came after he made waves with Esperance of Tunisia.
Following a loan move from Esperance to USM Alger in Algeria, Eneramo joined Al-Shabab of Saudi Arabia on a free transfer, then returned to the Tunisian outfit shortly after, then moved to Turkey, where he went on to spend five years.
He was back on the Middle East in 2017 with Al-Ettifaq, but lasted just a few months, after which he returned to Esperance and then headed to Turk Ocagi Limasol SK in Cyprus, where he retired from active football.
Following the emergence of details about his death on Friday, Galatasaray’s media unit issued a formal statement in honour of the former all-action striker, who scored three goals in ten matches for the Super Eagles after his debut in 2009.
Galatasaray stated: “We are saddened to hear the passing of Michael Eneramo, who played for multiple clubs in Turkish Süper Lig. Everyone at Galatasaray SK extends their condolences to his family, friends and the federation of Nigeria.”
