All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Joao Gomes, Carlos Baleba and Marcus Rashford.
Atleti open Gomes talks
Atletico Madrid are stepping up their pursuit of Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes, Ben Jacobs reports.
The Brazil international is also a target for Man Utd, but Atleti have now opened talks over a potential summer transfer. Wolves are believed to value him at around €46 million. This is not great news for Man Utd, but it does have a positive domino effect.
Atleti’s accelerated pursuit of Gomes confirms that they have moved on from Ederson for now after failing to strike a deal with Atalanta. The Serie A star is being tracked by Arsenal and Man Utd and could now become a concrete option for either club.
Brighton respond to Baleba rumours
Brighton sources have squashed rumours that Carlos Baleba could be available for under €60m this summer, TEAMtalk states.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Man Utd will be reluctant to pay more than €58m (£50m) for the Cameroon international following a fairly disappointing season. Brighton accept that his value has dropped, but they will not sell him that cheaply.
It is claimed that the South Coast club are holding out for around €80m. The report also casts doubt on the assertion that Baleba still has a verbal agreement with Man Utd after agreeing terms last summer.
Barcelona to move on from Rashford
Barcelona have made the decision not to retain Man Utd loanee Marcus Rashford, as per Sport.
They have tried to find a way around triggering his €30m purchase option, but Man Utd have made it clear that they won’t offer any discounts. This fee, in combination with Rashford’s hefty wages, is too much for Barcelona.
An additional reason is that his form has dropped off significantly. The three recent games against Atletico Madrid were seen as major tests for Rashford, but he failed to impress.
Man Utd step up Kalulu chase
A Man Utd scout will be in attendance to watch Pierre Kalulu in Juventus’ clash with AC Milan on Sunday evening, Tuttomercatoweb claims.
The Red Devils are said to be showing a strong interest in the French centre-back following his impressive performances for the Old Lady. Kalulu has been linked with Man Utd for several weeks.
Signing a centre-back is not a pressing priority after the extension of Harry Maguire’s contract, but it is nevertheless an area the recruitment department is looking at.
