FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours from 24 April, including the latest updates on Elliot Anderson, Yan Diomande and Jadon Sancho.
Man City in ‘pole position’ to sign Anderson
Manchester City are ‘in pole position’ to beat rivals Manchester United to the signing of Elliot Anderson this summer, according to Sky Sports.
Anderson is expected to leave Nottingham Forest this summer, particularly if they are relegated from the Premier League, and the 23-year-old is a top target for the elite sides in the division.
Sources are said to ‘increasingly believe’ that Anderson is ‘destined’ for the Etihad, with relationships between City and Forest described as ‘excellent’.
City hope a deal can be thrashed out before the 2026 World Cup, although Forest are aware that a positive campaign for Thomas Tuchel’s England side could raise his price tag to above €100 million.
Man Utd face City interest in attacking duo
Sky Sports also revealed that Manchester City are looking at forwards this summer and have added two names to their shortlist in Eli Kroupi and Yan Diomande, both of whom are also targets for Man Utd.
Kroupi has proven a revelation since moving to Bournemouth last summer, scoring 11 goals in his first season in England, which has led to interest from United, Chelsea and Arsenal among others.
Diomande, meanwhile is a top target for United and Liverpool, while Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the RB Leipzig wonderkid, who could cost close to €100m.
City are also expected to target a right-back this summer and have scouted many options including Feyenoord youngster Givairo Read as well as Newcastle’s Tino Livramento.
Sancho gives approval to Dortmund transfer
Manchester United will finally be rid of Jadon Sancho this summer after the on-loan Aston Villa winger gave his approval to join Dortmund.
Sancho’s contract at Old Trafford is set to expire this summer and United would prefer to opt against activating their one-year option and get his wages off the book after a disastrous stint since his €85 million transfer from Dortmund in 2021.
And the German side look set to re-sign their former winger for a third stint, with Florian Plettenberg confirming that Sancho has held talks with Dortmund and ‘all the figures and information’ are on the table.
Sancho is also said to have many other offers but the ball is now in Dortmund’s court over their intentions, with a stay at United completely ruled out.
Arsenal return in transfer for Fresneda
Arsenal are tracking Sporting defender Ivan Fresneda in their pursuit of a new right-back this summer.
The Gunners are expected to invite offers for Ben White and are monitoring a number of players as his replacement, such as Newcastle’s Tino Livramento.
Now, according to The Sun, Fresneda has emerged as a target, having previously been scouted by the Gunners before he moved to Sporting in 2023.
Fresneda has a release clause of €80 million at Sporting but, with two years remaining on his deal, the Portuguese giants are expected to be open to his sale for a lower fee, giving Arsenal a chance to seal a deal.
Liverpool and Chelsea enter Trafford race
Liverpool and Chelsea are among the teams that have declared an interest in James Trafford as the England international prepares to leave Manchester City this summer.
Trafford only rejoined City last summer from Burnley but the 23-year-old grew frustrated after Pep Guardiola’s men signed Gianluigi Donnarumma later in the summer.
With Trafford keen to leave City for first team football, GOAL report that Liverpool and Chelsea have now joined the race to sign Trafford.
Aston Villa and Newcastle are also expected to push hard for Trafford and a bidding war could be on for a player who City paid €30m for last summer.
