Director-general of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu has showered accolades on what he referred to as a highly innovative and potentially impactful NFF-FIFA Players’ Hostel in Abuja, Sports247 reports.

Shaibu, who is also the NIS’ chief executive officer, gave the accolades during a courtesy call on the president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who he described as ‘a master of reforms.’
The former deputy governor of Edo State added while leading a delegation of management and staff of NIS to the NFF’s secretariat that Gusau is an efficient and trail blazing administrator leading a ‘silent revolution’ in Nigeria’s football.
He further extolled Gusau’s excellent and lasting reforms, passion for football development from the grassroots and focus on enhanced infrastructure that has seen remarkable improvements in playing pitches across the nation.
Shaibu cited as examples of Gusau’s reforms the ongoing construction of NFF-FIFA Players’ Hostel and two training pitches, with renovation of the existing one, at Package B of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, to be completed in the first quarter of next year.
“There is a silent revolution going on in Nigerian football that people may not appreciate for now. The fruits of those reforms will be evident in the coming years. See what’s happening in the league. These things were not possible some years ago.
“More than that, we can see the focus on football infrastructure. In years to come, different NFF administrations will look at this project you are doing nearby and they will always commend your vision,” said Shaibu.
