Gusau, who is also the president of West African Football Union (WAFU) zone-B, gave the pledged during a short investiture ceremony at the NFF’s secretariat in Abuja, during which he was named a patron of the competition.
The investiture was performed by Honourable Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, a former executive committee member of the NFF, two-term House of Representatives member and current chairman of Plateau State Football Association.
Honourable Yahaya-Kwande is the competition’s national coordinator and director of Cornerflag Connection Limited, acknowledged that naming Gusau as a patron of the tourney was an effort aimed at garnering additional backing for the venture.
He also pointed out that a meeting that preceded the ceremony concentrated on strengthening partnerships and galvanising support for the national youth talent hunt initiative, for which the organizers are seeking effective collaborations.
Gusau retorted, “This is a welcome idea, and I am excited to be a patron of the initiative. The NFF will play an active role and watch keenly for those exceptional talents that can break into the various national teams through the competition.”
