Israel’s ambassador to the UN said that the ceasefire situation with Lebanon was “not 100 percent” following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a three-week extension.
“Every time we see a threat, we take action,” Danny Danon said in the televised interview, saying that Israeli forces have to “retaliate” against Hezbollah.
Danon added that Israeli forces “have to retaliate” against Hezbollah sending rockets.
“I think the main question is whether the Lebanese government is capable of enforcing a ceasefire or a peace agreement or actually applying sovereignty over southern Lebanon,” he added.
Israeli forces have repeatedly waged attacks on Lebanon, despite a 10-day ceasefire that came into effect last week, leading to killings and injuries amongst civilians alongside the destruction of homes and infrastructure.
