Donald Trump made a health admission live on CNBC while drawing parallels between himself and former President Joe Biden.
The president, who turns 80 in just a matter of months, conceded he must “be careful” after taking aim at Biden, 83, for “falling all over the place” and admitted he cannot rush himself when tackling flights of stairs.
CNBC presenter Joe Kernen was speaking with Trump via telephone regarding the Iran war, and raised the question, “Are the Saudis impatient now, or do they want- are they on the other side?” This follows the president extending his ceasefire with Iran in the wake of a series of aggressive threats and apparent negotiations.
Discussing Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Trump said, “Well, he’s another great guy, he gave me the famous line that I use a little bit.
“He said, ‘A year and a half ago, sir, you were a dead country – now you’re the hottest country anywhere in the world.’ He said that to me, and it’s true. We were a dead country, we had a guy that wasn’t respected, we had a country that was laughed at.”
Trump then directed his attention towards his predecessor, “He couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs! Forget about down, he couldn’t walk up a flight. But he was falling all over the place.” The 79-year-old leader then became candid about his own physical state, admitting, “I have to be careful, ’cause if I do trip or fall, it’s gonna be the biggest… and this is why when I get out of those planes I walk nice and slowly, I’m not looking to set any speed records.”
He then shifted the subject once more, by attacking Biden’s tenure, adding, “But we had an embarrassing country, we had a country that was going to fail. This country would have failed if I didn’t win this election, I’ll tell you that.
“I’ve had many people tell me that. Many people that aren’t necessarily of the Republican persuasion, or MAGA,” Trump concluded. The clip was posted online, where audiences were swift to criticise Trump.
One user condemned, “Trump is PATHETIC. Joe Kernen and his fellow parasitic liars MUST be destroyed. The ego and ambition of weak, ignorant dregs are destroying lives and our nation. Epstein teaches us NOT TO REWARD LIARS and NARCISSISTIC PARASITES.
“He lies just to lie at this point!! Horrible human!!” someone else added, with one person remarking, “Notice how Joe, just like on Fox News… just lets him lie through his teeth and they say NOTHING about it… Not one word.”
Meanwhile, another highlighted, “Instead of arguing over who is the ‘best’ at managing poverty, both of you should tell us how a family of four is supposed to survive on a $15/hour wage in 2026.”
