Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua was undergoing alcohol rehabilitation on Tuesday in Malibu when he was finally served the lawsuit accusing him of biting a woman during an alleged drunken New Year’s Eve interaction.
Plaintiff attorney Joseph Kar has confirmed to The Daily Mail that Nacua, 24, was at a treatment facility when he was served the lawsuit after two failed attempts to do so. As first reported by TMZ, a nurse identified as ‘Jane Doe’ facilitated the indirect service of the lawsuit. Previously, process servers were reportedly denied access to the facility, which would not confirm Nacua’s presence due to HIPAA restrictions.
The Daily Mail has sought comment from Nacua’s attorney as well.
According to the lawsuit, the allegedly inebriated Nacua bit plaintiff Madison Atiabi and her friend on December 31. Nacua is also accused in the filing of making unprovoked antisemitic statements.
‘While at dinner, and in the presence of Plaintiff and others, Defendant made an unprovoked antisemitic statement, ‘F*** all the Jews,’ read the lawsuit obtained by The Daily Mail. ‘Plaintiff is of the Jewish faith and immediately felt uncomfortable and emotionally distressed.’
Later, Nacua bit the thumb of Atiabi’s friend and Atiabi’s back, leaving a mark, according to the lawsuit.

Atiabi is seeking ‘general and compensatory damages in an amount to be proven at trial’ as well as ‘special damages including medical expenses, past and future, in an amount to be proven at trial.’
On Monday, Nacua reported for duty on the first day of the Rams’ offseason program. He previously denied Atiabi’s allegations and threatened to sue her for defamation.
The All-Pro receiver is expected to be a ‘full participant’ in the Rams’ offseason program, head coach Sean McVay told reporters Tuesday.
‘Great to be able to see him,’ McVay said. ‘Looks great. He’s doing really well.’
McVay declined to reveal what he and Nacua have said to one another, but maintained that the interactions have been positive.
‘He and I have a great relationship and feel really good about kind of the direction that we’re going,’ McVay said.

Although Nacua has denied Atiabi’s claims, he nevertheless entered rehab earlier this year, as his attorney Levi McCathern told The California Post on April 1.
‘He was in [rehab] a substantial period of time before any of these allegations broke … and he’s scheduled to be there for a while longer,’ McCathern told The California Post.
Nacua was originally named in a restraining order petition by Atiabi, who has since dropped that request.
‘In order to focus our efforts on the civil matter that was filed on March 25, 2026, Plaintiff has elected to voluntarily withdraw without prejudice her petition for civil harassment,’ Kar said in a statement provided to The Daily Mail last month.
During a March email exchange with The Daily Mail, Kar also offered a reminder that Nacua is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department over Atiabi’s allegations.
Nacua has previously faced accusations of antisemitic behavior. In December, he faced significant backlash and later issued an apology over his actions on a livestream with popular streamer Adin Ross.
Ross asked Nacua to rub his hands together – a move ostensibly used to degrade Jewish people – after scoring a touchdown.
Nacua performed the celebration while on the livestream with Ross before quickly backtracking, issuing an apology and claiming he had ‘no idea’ about the reference.
