Liam Rosenior faces a player revolt as he fights to retain his role as Chelsea head coach.
The embattled Rosenior publicly criticised his squad following Chelsea’s defeat at Brighton — their fifth consecutive loss without finding the net.
That outburst has been poorly received within the dressing room, placing Rosenior on a collision course with several senior figures at the club.
Those comments are also feeding into Chelsea’s deliberations over the manager’s future, with the hierarchy visibly alarmed by the alarming slump in form.
This has fuelled mounting uncertainty over Rosenior’s position, despite the manager insisting he intends to fight for his job and expects to lead the side in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Leeds.

It is understood that talks regarding his future are now under way, just three months into Rosenior’s tenure after he signed a six-year contract in January.
Serious questions are now being asked about whether Rosenior will still be in the dugout, and whether the club’s original plan to conduct a review at the end of the season is beginning to shift.
Bookmakers have already installed former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas as the frontrunner for the role, though he was not considered a candidate back in January.
Nevertheless, failing to qualify for the Champions League would be a significant setback, while the FA Cup still presents a tangible opportunity for silverware — keeping the season very much alive.
Rosenior’s decision to publicly call out his players is a considerable gamble, particularly given that captain Enzo Fernandez was dropped following his flirtation with Real Madrid. The fallout sent shockwaves through the dressing room, with players visibly shaken following the defeat to Brighton.
The manager’s remarks have thrust the situation into the spotlight, raising more than a few eyebrows and drawing accusations of “throwing players under the bus.”
When Rosenior was pressed on whether it was a risk worth taking, he responded: “I’ve always said I will be honest, and I’ve been honest with the players. I’m honest with you, as honest as I can. I’m not throwing anyone under the bus. That was an unacceptable performance.
“And I’m at the head of that. So for me to come out here, we’re playing for Chelsea. I’m managing Chelsea. The criticism and pressure comes with the football club. So if you can’t handle that, then you shouldn’t be here. It’s as simple as that.
“And that’s something that needs to be addressed this week. But it also needs to be addressed in the long term. It needs to be addressed.”
When quizzed on whether he could engineer a turnaround ahead of Sunday’s fixture, Rosenior added: “I need to make that time. I need to work with the staff 24 hours a day.
“We need to make the correct decisions for the team for a massive game on Sunday. And we’ll do the very, very best we can to turn it around.”
