All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Bernardo Silva, Arda Guler and Victor Valdepenas.
Arsenal tracking Silva
Arsenal are “monitoring” Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva, according to ESPN Brasil.
The Cityzens have confirmed that their club captain will depart when his contract expires this summer. Despite enjoying an impressive resurgence in recent weeks, Silva was not offered an extension.
Arsenal are keeping an eye on this potential market opportunity, though it is now believed that a move is likely. Silva is also being chased by other clubs like Juventus and Benfica.
Arsenal make fresh Guler contact
Arsenal have been in touch with the representatives of Real Madrid attacker Arda Guler, CaughtOffside claims.
The Gunners are long-term admirers of the Turkish superstar and persistently linked with a potential move. Guler, it is claimed, is facing an uncertain future at Real Madrid because of the club’s managerial situation.
After barely playing under Carlo Ancelotti, Guler has featured prominently under Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa. Should Guler feel that his game time prospects would diminish under the next coach, he could look to leave.
At the moment, though, Arsenal are getting the same answer as always: he’s not interested in a move.
Arsenal in pole position for Fernandez
Arsenal are leading the race to sign Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez, as per TEAMtalk.
The centre-back has been a standout performer at Ibrox this season, which attracted the attention of various Premier League clubs. It was recently even claimed that Rangers could demand a whopping €40 million for Fernandez.
Arsenal are the English club showing the strongest interest in the 24-year-old, though it is added that Chelsea, Everton and West Ham are also in the mix, as are teams from Germany.
Arsenal face Valdepenas competition
Eintracht Frankfurt are showing a strong interest in Real Madrid youngster Victor Valdepenas, BILD reports.
The 19-year-old is a long-standing target for Arsenal, who have been monitoring his development for at least a year. The defender, who can play at centre-back and left-back, made his senior debut in December but hasn’t featured at all under Arbeloa.
He could be on the move this summer, but it is not Arsenal who are trying to sign him. Eintracht Frankfurt have opened talks with the Spain youth international and could be willing to pay Real Madrid’s €5m asking price.
Mini Arteta rising through the ranks
Mikel Arteta’s eldest son, 16-year-old Gabriel, made his debut for Arsenal’s U18s in a 3-0 win over Reading on Wednesday. Ethan Nwaneri’s 15-year-old brother Emerson and Alex Marciniak got on the scoresheet.
Gabriel Arteta Bernal made his U17s debut in October, but he is not a midfielder like his father. The teenager is more attack-minded and primarily plays on the wing.
In addition to 2009-born Gabriel, Arteta and his wife, Lorena Bernal, have two more sons, 2012-born Daniel and 2015-born Oliver.
