The director-general of National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade has spoken in glowing terms about former chairman of then Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, who died on Saturday.

Sports247 reports that Olopade declared that Nigeria has lost a very selfless sports administrator of top quality, while also lamenting that the country will miss the former NFA supremo’s wise counsel at a most crucial point in time.
The man fondly called ‘DG’ declared, “What we are doing at the Commission needs the experience and contributions of renowned, competent and selfless sports administrators like Alhaji Galadima. We will surely miss his guidance and positives interventions.
“We commiserate with the people of Kano State and the entire Nigerian sporting fraternity. Indeed, this is a huge loss. May Almighty Allah grant his soul eternal rest in Aljanna and grant all who mourn him the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
Olopade further stated that Nigeria’s current array of football administrators will no longer be able to tap from the knowledge of Galadima, who served as NFA chairman from 2002 to 2006, as part of his very illustrious career in sports administration.
His administrative roles included chairman of Kano State Football Association, executive chairman of Kano State Sports Council, first vice president of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and commissioner for Youth and Sports.
Galadima was also instrumental to setting up Kano Pillars Football Club and he was a member of the Presidential Monitoring Committee on Stadia Development for the FIFA World Youth Championship, among other enduring legacies.
NSC’s director of information and public relations, Dr (Mrs) Kehinde Ajayi added, “The National Sports Commission extends its heartfelt condolences to the Galadima family, the football community, and the government and people of Kano State over this irreparable loss.”
