Nigeria’s top-ranked player, Daniel Adeleye, has exited the ATP Abidjan Challenger 50 following a straight-sets defeat in the final round of qualifiers on Monday.
The 19-year-old was beaten 7–5, 6–3 by Algeria’s Samir Hamza Reguig in a match that lasted 1 hour, 29 minutes and 41 seconds.

The encounter took place on the outdoor hard courts of the Central Kaydan Arena in Abidjan, as part of the Côte d’Ivoire Open 1 qualifying series.
Reguig’s victory secured his place in the tournament’s main draw, while Adeleye’s run came to an end just one step short of qualification.
Despite the loss, the outing represents a notable milestone in Adeleye’s budding career.
The Abidjan event marked his maiden appearance at ATP Challenger level, a significant progression from the lower-tier competitions where he has recently built momentum.
