Technical director of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Gabriel Okon has been saddled with the task of overseeing the latest training camp arranged for the country’s athletes ahead of this year’s World Relays Championship.
Sports247 gathered that, as the relays billed to hold in Gaborone, Botswana edge closer with each passing day, the AFN opened another training camp for the country’s quartet teams on Monday in Lagos.

The global championship is scheduled for 2nd and 3rd of May, heading into which AFN’s media committee chairman, Maxwell Kumoye disclosed that an array of Nigeria’s top athletes from overseas will join the home-based lot in Gaborone.
Before then, Okon will oversee training of the invited athletes for a week, with special drills in all six categories that Nigeria qualified for – men’s 4×100 and 4x400m, women’s 4x100m and 4x400m, as well as mixed 4×100 and 4x400m.
The listed athletes for 4×100 men are Enoch Adegoke, James Taiwo Emmanuel, Chidera Ezeakor and Tejire Godwin; while those for 4×400m men are Ezekiel Enoh Azukwo, Gafari Badmus, Victor Ime, Samson Nathaniel and Emmanuel Ojeli.
Listed for 4x100m women are Jenifer Chukwuka, Miracle Ezechukwu, Rosemary Nwankwo and Maria Thompson Omokwe, while those for 4x400m women are Anita Enaruna, Patience Okon George, Toheebat Jimoh and Jecinta Lawrence.
Those for mixed relays include Esther Okon, Sekiru Adewale Adeyemi and Taiwo Mary Kudoro, while the foreign-based athletes are Rosemary Chukwuma, Blessing Ogundiran, Favour Ashe and Chidi Okezie.
