All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Julian Alvarez, Leandro Trossard and Marli Salmon.
Exclusive: Trossard open to Napoli switch
Napoli are showing a strong interest in Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard, FootballTransfers understands.
The Belgian is out of contract in 2027 and likely to leave the Gunners this summer. Napoli have made him a key target as they seek attacking reinforcements. They would be prepared to pay as much as €18 million for him.
Trossard is intrigued by the prospect of joining Napoli. He is open to the idea of playing alongside compatriot Kevin de Bruyne at club level and favours a move to Naples over other destinations. Inter are also interested.
Arsenal get Alvarez boost
Barcelona are stepping up their efforts to agree a new contract for Robert Lewandowski, as per Sky Germany.
After talks with superagent Pini Zahavi, president Joan Laporta has promised the Poland international a new one-year deal, albeit on reduced terms. Barcelona appear to have accepted defeat in the chase for Julian Alvarez.
This is a big boost for Arsenal, who remain in the race to sign him. However, reports in Spain suggest that the Argentine is not keen on a return to the Premier League. Moreover, the data suggests that he would not be a strong stylistic fit for the Gunners.
Salmon agreement
Arsenal have announced that academy prospect Marli Salmon has signed a pre-contract agreement.
The youngster has agreed to put pen to paper on a professional deal that will take effect when he turns 17 in August. It comes on the back of four senior appearances this season.
“It’s a very big moment for me, for my family as well,” he said. “I’m very proud. I’ve been at the academy since I was nine and I just want to give everything to the club.
“I’m an Arsenal supporter, and I’ve had some great memories so far. I’m so proud to have made my debut this season, I just want to keep pushing on still, keep my levels high and try to get as much experience as I can in the first team.”
Gordon exit increasingly likely
Newcastle star Anthony Gordon is increasingly likely to leave the club this summer, according to The Times.
Bayern are believed to be the clear favourites for his signature, but Arsenal remain interested as well. Reports in Germany have also suggested that Liverpool could rejoin the race for their boyhood fan.
Newcastle will not stand in Gordon’s way if their €86m valuation of the player is matched. This is likely more than what Bayern are expected to pay, but the Munich outfit are expected to open formal talks with the Magpies to thrash out a deal in the coming weeks.
