Nigeria’s emerging tennis talent Daniel Adeleye has achieved a major career milestone after securing his first-ever ATP ranking point, marking a significant step in his transition to professional tennis.

The 19-year-old earned the breakthrough point following his victory over France’s Elijah Sanogo at the ATP Challenger 50 event in Abidjan.
The win sees Adeleye enter the ATP Live Rankings for the first time, currently placed at world No. 1953 as of April 20, 2026.
Breaking into the ATP rankings is widely regarded as a defining moment for any aspiring professional, and Adeleye’s achievement underlines his growing status as one of Nigeria’s brightest prospects in the sport.

With this feat, Adeleye joins Christopher Bulus as the only Nigerian players currently listed on the ATP rankings.
Bulus, who has been a consistent presence on the circuit, previously broke into the top 1000 in 2024 and reached a career-high ranking of 935. As of early 2026, he is ranked outside the top 1500 but remains a key figure in Nigerian tennis.
