FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Maxence Lacroix and Behdad Eghbali.
Maxence Lacroix latest
Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix has emerged as a possible target for Chelsea this summer, amid their pursuit of a new centre-back, and he would be “interested” in making a step up to the Blues ahead of 2026-27.
That is according to The Daily Mail, who claim that Lacroix could follow in Oliver Glasner’s footsteps by leaving Selhurst Park this summer.
The Frenchman has ambitions of becoming a regular national team player and he reportedly ticks most of the boxes that Chelsea are looking for in their next centre-back.
Transfer plan confirmed
Ahead of a critical transfer window at Chelsea, Behdad Eghbali has promised that experienced talent will be arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Since BlueCo took command of the Stamford Bridge club, there has been a focus on signing some of the world’s brightest young talents, often at a premium price, but this will change this summer, according to the club’s co-owner.
Speaking at CAA’s World Congress of Sports in Los Angeles, Eghbali said: “We’ve got to be better on a few things, to add more ready-made players at this part of the project, to take it to the next level, to be consistent over time.
“We recognise we need balance. We have world champions, we have Champions League winners, we have elite, elite young players. Experience has developed now. The team has been together for two or three years. The objective is to keep your best players, and we’ve done that, and there’s no intention to rebuild every three or four years. You tweak a model, you improve, you learn from mistakes.
“Our goal is to have elite, elite players on the pitch, elite characters off the pitch that our fans can bond with, that will be at the club, that will be club legends for the next 10 or 15 years and beyond. I think, generally, we’ve been fortunate, not in getting everything right, but we do have a core of good players, global players. Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Levi Colwill, Estevao Willian, Reece James.
“The view is now that we’re here with a great core base, to add some of that experience, to take the team to the next level and have consistency. That fact is not lost on us, and we’re at a point where we can take that next step, hopefully in the next year and beyond.”

Alejandro Garnacho could leave
Chelsea are open to selling Alejandro Garnacho after just one season at the club.
The Argentina winger moved to Stamford Bridge from Manchester United for a fee of €46.2 million on Transfer Deadline Day last summer and he has endured a tricky debut campaign in west London, registering just five goal contributions in 21 Premier League games this term.
Chelsea are expected to sign at least one new forward this summer, while the imminent arrival of Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda means that Garnacho could feasibly drop even further down the pecking order next season.
The former Man Utd star has been linked with a premature Stamford Bridge exit for several months and The Sun have now confirmed that Chelsea are open to selling him during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Official: Moises Caicedo signs contract extension
Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has officially signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge, keeping him at the club until 2033.
Caicedo had five years remaining on his current contract with Liam Rosenior’s side, but he has been rewarded for his recent form with improved contract terms, which includes a salary increase.
After the announcement, Caicedo told the Chelsea website: “I am so happy to have extended my contract at Chelsea. I believe in this team, this club and I know we’re going in the right direction. We’ve only just begun together.
“There is still a lot more to achieve, and I’m very hungry to keep improving every day. I want to win more trophies with Chelsea and give everything for this club and for the fans.
“We have enjoyed some great times together already and my dream is to become a Chelsea legend, and I will work as hard as possible to make that happen.”

Said El Mala update
Brighton & Hove Albion are currently leading the race to sign Chelsea target Said El Mala, as per German journalist Christian Falk.
However, Liam Rosenior’s side have no intention of giving up their bid to land the Koln winger. It’s claimed that a fee of €50m is being pursued by the Bundesliga outfit and with Brighton yet to match this valuation, it could allow Chelsea to hijack the proposed deal.
El Mala, 19, has scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 29 league matches so far this season.
