Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Alejandro Garnacho after just one season at the club.

The Argentina winger moved to Stamford Bridge from Manchester United for a fee of €46.2 million on Transfer Deadline Day last summer and he has endured a tricky debut campaign in west London, registering just five goal contributions in 21 Premier League games this term.

The 21-year-old has fared well in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup for the Blues, but his form in the English top flight has been concerning and he has only started 14 league matches across the entire season, after failing to nail down a consistent place under new boss Liam Rosenior.

Chelsea are expected to sign at least one new forward this summer, while the imminent arrival of Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda means that Garnacho could feasibly drop further down the pecking order next season.

The former Man Utd star has been linked with a premature Stamford Bridge exit for several months and The Sun have now confirmed that Chelsea are open to selling him during the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, Garnacho himself has shown no signs of looking to secure a move away. Speaking to Premier League Productions last week, he admitted: “There is a lot more to come, this is just the start.

“I joined two months after the rest without pre-season, then you need time to adapt to a different club and a different place. Sometimes the first season is harder but I will work very hard in the games we have left.

“I will try to be ready from the start in pre-season because I know what I can do and that’s the most important thing to have the confidence in the player I can be. Of course, in football you have to show it and that’s what I have to do.”

Expert analysis: Who could sign Alejandro Garnacho this summer?

Garnacho’s reputation has undoubtedly dipped dramatically over the past 12 months, but he is still only 21 years old and Chelsea will hope that suitors are lining up to bank on his potential.

His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €59.9m is already far higher than the fee Chelsea paid to sign him last summer and the Blues will therefore be confident of turning a small profit on the Argentine, despite his poor campaign in west London.

Data analytics experts SciSports believe that a move to Serie A could be smart for Garnacho, with Napoli and Inter regarded as excellent destinations, while a transfer to Liverpool is also seen as a sensible idea amid the inconsistent form of Cody Gakpo.
