Nigeria’s D’Tigress could face the United States of America, hosts Germany, France or Australia in the group stage of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
This was made known after D’Tigress was placed in Seed 2, ahead of the World Cup draw billed for April 21 in Berlin. USA, Germany, France and Austria are in Seed 1.
Other teams in Seed 2 alongside D’Tigress are China, Belgium and Spain.
The teams that are in Seed 3 include Japan, Puerto Rico, Italy and South Korea, while Seed 4 has Turkey, Czech Republic, Mali and Hungary.
D’Tigress qualified for the World Cup after reaching the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The team clinched a record fifth continental title after overcoming Mali in the final.
The 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup will be the 20th edition of tournament.
It will be hosted in Berlin, Germany, from 4th to 13th September 2026. This is Germany’s second time hosting after previously organising the event in 1998, after being awarded the hosting rights in spring 2023.
