Spain urges CHINA to solve Iran war crisis after row with Donald Trump

Spain’s prime minister Pedro Sánchez says China is the only global power that he can see helping ease tensions across the Middle East

A NATO member has now turned to China for help after its row with Donald Trump.

Spain has called on Xi Jinping to step up and help bring the war in Iran to an end, arguing that Beijing is uniquely positioned to influence and resolve conflicts across the Middle East and beyond.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said he saw China as the only global power capable of helping bring the war in Iran – and other countries like Ukraine – to a close.

“I find it very difficult to find other interlocutors, beyond China, who can resolve this situation in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz,” Sánchez said during a visit to Beijing, urging China to help.
