A flight bound for a resort city on the Turkish Riviera was forced to return to Manchester Airport.
SunExpress flight XQ593 departed Manchester at 1.33pm BST on Monday for Antalya but returned just minutes after take-off due to a reported medical emergency on board. The Boeing 737-800 abruptly halted its ascent at 18,000 feet, with the crew transmitting a Squawk 7700 code -the international signal for a general emergency – and alerting air traffic control to an incident, AirLive reports. A passenger required urgent medical attention, according to reports.
The aircraft briefly entered a holding pattern to prepare for an overweight landing before being cleared to land immediately.
