The 23-year-old has enjoyed a sensational debut season at the Stadium of Light, following his arrival from NEC Nijmegen in August, and his form has attracted the attention of multiple top Premier League clubs.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Dutchman in recent weeks, amid their pursuit of a long-term replacement for Alisson Becker, while Chelsea are also understood to be keeping close tabs on his progress with Regis Le Bris’ side.

Roefs has kept nine clean sheets in 34 Premier League appearances so far this season and rumours have speculated that Chelsea may be willing to pay just shy of €70m to secure his signature during the upcoming summer window.

Robert Sanchez has been the Blues’ first-choice goalkeeper for the past two seasons, but his future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain, while the club are yet to decide whether Mike Penders will be ready to become their new number one when his loan spell at Strasbourg ends this summer.

As a result, reports have suggested that Roefs has been earmarked as a potential summer signing by Liam Rosenior’s side as they eye a possible move for a new goalkeeper. However, the 23-year-old has now confirmed that he is happy at Sunderland and isn’t thinking about a Stamford Bridge switch.

Robin Roefs delivers Chelsea transfer verdict

When asked about growing interest in his signature following Sunderland’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Roefs told reporters: “No, I don’t really feel any way with it. I’m just really happy with the trust I get from the team, from the coach.

“I’m back, and everyone just supports me so well, and they’re happy that I’m back. This is, for me, really important. Within the club, within the team, they appreciate me, and that’s just really nice to have. What happens outside of that, I don’t really feel any type of way about it.”

He added: “For me, it’s not really time to think about these things like moving or any rumours. As long as I don’t know anything about it, I just keep on going.

“The way we are building here is just really, really amazing. I think being promoted and performing really well, I think we can only build on that. Let’s hope next season we can continue like this.”
