Ahead of their opening group stage match against Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco on Tuesday, Tanzania has moved quickly to bolster the squad by bringing in a young striker from the domestic league.
According to Sports247, head coach Miguel Gamondi has called up Salemani Mwaliem to the 28-man Tanzania national team (Taifa Stars) squad. He will replace Abdul Suleiman “Thorpe,” who was injured during the training camp in Cairo, Egypt.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) will launch a new sponsorship program in partnership with the National Sports Council (NSC) and Blueberry Travels to provide comprehensive support for the team’s match in Morocco.
Previously, the Tanzania Football Federation had launched a travel program for fans wishing to travel to Morocco to watch the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. National Sports Council (NSC) representative Benson Chacha stated that this move was in response to numerous requests from fans to arrange coordinated travel.
The package includes round-trip airfare and transportation within Morocco, starting with the first match against Nigeria. The cost is $2,535 per fan, or $2,320 per person for two people traveling together.
