At the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, newcomers Kun Khalifat FC pulled off a shock 2-1 victory over home team Bayelsa United.
Uche Moses opened the scoring in the 54th minute, with Michael Akano sealing the victory in the 77th.
Jawad Mustapha’s penalty in the 62nd minute was merely a consolation for the home team.
