Raphinha delivered another outstanding performance as Barcelona cruised to a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League, earning the Man of the Match award after scoring twice at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona made a bright start to the contest, with Lamine Yamal opening the scoring in the seventh minute to give the hosts an early advantage. Aston Villa struggled to contain Barcelona’s attacking quality, although they managed to keep the deficit at one goal until the second half.
Raphinha then took centre stage, scoring twice to put the result beyond doubt. The Brazilian made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute after receiving a pass from Fermín López, before completing his brace in the 64th minute with a close-range finish from João Cancelo’s excellent delivery.
His two goals proved decisive as Barcelona secured an important victory and ended Aston Villa’s perfect start to the Champions League campaign.
Raphinha’s influence went beyond his goals, as he remained a constant threat to Villa’s defence throughout the match. His performance earned him the UEFA Man of the Match recognition, another reward for his impressive form this season.
The victory also gives Barcelona a valuable three points in their pursuit of a top-eight finish in the Champions League league phase. With Raphinha continuing to deliver in front of goal, Hansi Flick will be delighted with the attacking options available to him.
