The Nigeria National League (NNL) has moved the opening match of the 2026/2027 season between Heartland FC and Crown FC from October 31 to November 1, 2026.
The match will take place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
NNL Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, said the change was necessary because of important state events scheduled for October 31.
He explained that the league wants the state to be well represented at the opening match to ensure a good turnout and create a fitting atmosphere for the new season.
Alanana apologised to both clubs and their supporters for the change. He asked them to understand the reason for the decision, adding that the adjustment would help ensure a successful start to the season.
The match between Heartland FC and Crown FC will now officially kick off the 2026/2027 NNL season on Sunday, November 1.
