Super Eagles midfielder Chibuike Nwaiwu has reaffirmed Trabzonspor’s determination to challenge for the Turkish Süper Lig title following their impressive 2-0 victory over Beşiktaş, insisting that the team must remain focused on each match rather than become distracted by championship expectations.
Nwaiwu believes the victory represents another important step in Trabzonspor’s campaign but warned that sustained hard work and consistency will be necessary to achieve their ultimate objective.
“We need to do our job as a player, and we know what is at stake,” the Nigerian international said.
“We prepare for this game. Every game, we prepare for it to take every game step by step.”
The midfielder stressed that the players understand the expectations surrounding the club and are determined to maintain the discipline that has helped them compete at the top end of the Turkish league.
Nwaiwu made it clear that Trabzonspor’s ambitions extend beyond individual victories, with the squad targeting the championship at the end of the season.
“We have an aim, and the aim is to become the champion,” he declared.
“We’re still working hard for the result at the end of the league.”
His comments underline the confidence within the Trabzonspor squad as they seek to build momentum in the title race.
For Nwaiwu, however, the immediate priority remains preparation, with the Nigerian maintaining that every fixture must be approached with the same level of seriousness.
The midfielder’s contribution also reflects his growing involvement in Trabzonspor’s campaign as he continues to establish himself in Turkish football.
With the season still demanding consistency over several months, Nwaiwu believes the club must maintain its work ethic and avoid looking too far ahead.
The Nigerian international insists that Trabzonspor’s title ambitions will depend on their ability to keep producing results, one match at a time.
