Former Turkish striker Ahmet Dursun has criticised Victor Osimhen’s playing style, describing the Galatasaray forward as selfish while arguing that Dušan Vlahović is the better striker in Turkey.

Dursun made the remarks during an appearance on Turkish sports channel Tivibu Spor, where he questioned the Nigerian international’s approach to attacking play and its effect on his teammates.
“Osimhen is so selfish, a player who plays for himself,” Dursun reportedly said.
“He’s starting to harm both himself and his team. Every midfielder would want to play with Vlahović.”
The former striker also insisted that Vlahović was comfortably ahead of Osimhen in his assessment of the league’s best forwards.
“In my opinion, Vlahović is by far the league’s best striker,” he added.
Dursun’s comments have placed the spotlight on the difference between individual attacking quality and a striker’s ability to combine with teammates. While Osimhen is known for his aggressive movement, pressing and ability to trouble defenders, Dursun believes the Nigerian’s style can sometimes come at the expense of collective play.
However, the former striker’s assessment remains his personal opinion and does not, on its own, establish that Osimhen’s approach is damaging Galatasaray.
Osimhen remains an important attacking figure for the Turkish club, having built a reputation for his work rate, physical presence and goal-scoring ability. His performances have made him one of the most closely watched Nigerian players in European football.
The criticism comes as Galatasaray prepare to face Lille in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 21. The fixture offers Osimhen another opportunity to make an impact against his former club.
Whether Dursun’s concerns will be reflected in Osimhen’s performances remains to be seen, but the comments have added another talking point to the debate over the Nigerian forward’s style of play and standing among Turkey’s leading strikers.
