Jalen Hurts' mom speaks out on his terrifying blood clot diagnosis and admits 'life can change at the blink of an eye' amid fears his career is over

Jalen Hurts’ mom, Pamela, has reminded her followers to ‘be grateful’ in a TikTok video responding to his terrifying health scare.

Hurts is set to miss the rest of the NFL season after doctors found multiple blood clots in his lungs last week.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback first had a blood clot discovered in his calf when the team arrived in London. He required evaluation in the hospital before playing against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He then flew back to Philadelphia with the team where his condition worsened and he was placed on injured reserve on Sunday after the scary discovery from doctors.

Hurts has since been placed on blood thinners to deal with the clots, but an expert has told the Daily Mail why there are legitimate reasons to fear the condition could end his career and explained how he could have died.

It has been a scary chapter for the Hurts family, and mom Pamela took to her TikTok account to share a powerful message as she filmed a hardwood floor while seemingly walking around her house.

‘Just a reminder y’all, be grateful,’ she said. ‘Be grateful for where you are and what you have because your life could change at a blink of an eye. Be grateful. What are you grateful for?’

The Eagles posted a lengthy update on Hurts’ condition on Monday, in which they revealed ‘he is clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations.

‘His treatment should only involve anticoagulation [i.e., ‘blood thinners’],’ the release said. ‘During this time, he will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities, including football. Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery.

‘We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners. In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects.’

The Eagles have faced scrutiny over the decision to allow him to play against the Jaguars after he was being treated in a London hospital until the early hours of the morning.

Head coach Nick Sirianni issued a strong defense at a press conference on Monday afternoon, insisting: ‘The health of our players are as always at the forefront of our mind and leave that up to the medical experts, but we always, always care deeply about our players, and that’s when you are completely focused on together and connection.

‘You’re always thinking about the well being of your guys and that’s where we were in that situation.’

‘Again, I’m not a medical expert. We get medical information from our guys, and we always put players’ health first and foremost in every situation.

‘I fully trust the people that are involved in helping us all make these decisions. We have great people here.

‘The same doctors and trainers that helped 21 of our 22 starters be available in the Super Bowl are the same guys today that deeply care about our guys to help them.

‘Don’t have much more to say about that. That’s why we put the statement out. Full trust in those guys … kind of feels like you’re questioning that, and I know you guys have a job to do, but I’ve got the relationship with the players that I have because of the time that we spend together and because of the care that we have for each other. So, it’s always at the forefront of our mind.’

Hurts made his only public comments after returning from London, before the blood clot was revealed publicly.

‘It was a very unique experience, to say the least,’ Hurts said. ‘I don’t want to get into the details of kind of leading up to the game and whatnot, but got nicked up in the Rams game.’
