Participants at this year’s event took part in four fitness sessions: Yoga, led by Ugbem; Functional Fitness; Aerobics; and Tabata.

In an interview with Completesports.com, Ugbem said: “We all know how Lagos is. Everybody is busy hustling, but we need all these things, and we appreciate the organisers of this event for putting up something like this to help Lagosians for free. People should not take it for granted. They really put in a lot to give back to society.

“We all have to embrace fitness. It’s important because, before you go and do anything, you should at least do a five-minute stretch or a functional workout.”

What Yoga Is All About

Ugbem explained what yoga entails and why more people should embrace the practice.

“Yoga, as we call it, is a stretching workout involving relaxation, mobility and a lot more. It’s a workout, but people don’t know that. They think it’s just lying down and putting your hands up, but it’s a workout, and it’s very important.

“Some of the participants who know about the exercise put in the energy, and we could see that they were being intentional about it. We will keep raising awareness, and hopefully, in another two or three years, people will know more about yoga and wellness in general.”
