Like Father, Like Son! Michael Emenalo’s 18-Year-Old Son Landon Begins Celtic Journey After Chelsea Loan Move

Landon Emenalo, the 18-year-old son of former Super Eagles defender and Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo, has officially begun his journey with Scottish champions Celtic after joining the club on a season-long loan from Chelsea for the 2026/27 campaign.

Sports247 reports that the highly rated left-back completed his temporary move to the Scottish giants in September but was unable to link up immediately with his new teammates due to an injury rehabilitation programme at Chelsea.

However, Celtic confirmed on October 13 that the youngster had finally arrived at the club and commenced training with the first-team squad, marking an important step in his development.

Emenalo’s football journey began at Chelsea, where he joined the club’s academy at just seven years old.

Having progressed through the youth ranks, the defender established himself as a regular starter for Chelsea’s Under-21 team during the previous campaign.

His contributions helped the young Blues finish top of the Premier League 2 table, further strengthening his reputation as one of the promising talents emerging from the club’s academy system.

The 18-year-old also gained valuable exposure to senior football when he featured during Chelsea’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.

That experience provided an opportunity to train and compete alongside established first-team players before his loan move to Scotland.

Landon’s move to Celtic has also attracted attention because of his family’s strong connection to Nigerian and European football.

His father, Michael Emenalo, represented Nigeria during his playing career before establishing himself as a respected football administrator.

The former Super Eagles defender subsequently served as Chelsea’s technical director, playing an influential role in the club’s football operations.

While his father’s achievements provide an interesting background, Landon will be determined to establish his own identity and reputation through his performances on the pitch.

The season-long loan represents an important opportunity for the young defender to experience a different football environment and compete for first-team opportunities.

Having spent much of his development within Chelsea’s academy structure, the move to Celtic could provide the competitive exposure needed to accelerate his progress.

Although his arrival was delayed by injury rehabilitation, his return to full training represents an encouraging development as he prepares for the next stage of his career.

Emenalo will wear the number 12 shirt at Celtic and will be hoping to make his debut as soon as he earns an opportunity.

For the Scottish champions, the youngster offers another defensive option, while Chelsea will be monitoring his progress throughout the campaign.

For Landon Emenalo, the challenge is now to transform his academy promise into senior football experience, beginning a new chapter at Celtic while carrying a surname already familiar to Nigerian and English football supporters.
