Kelechi Iheanacho scored in his 10th consecutive game for club and country, but it was not enough as Bursaspor suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Mardin 1969 Spor in the Turkish TFF 1. Lig (second division) on Sunday.
Bursaspor fell behind 1-0 in the 21st minute to a goal from Tonio Teklic but Iheanacho equalized in the 81st minute with a superb strike from outside the penalty area.
However, Zdravko Dimitrov scored the winner for the visitors in the fourth minute of stoppage time to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory.
The goal took Iheanacho’s scoring streak to nine consecutive games specifically for Bursaspor in the Turkish First League. His overall tally stands at 14 goal contributions (12 goals and two assists).
Together with his goal for Nigeria (he opened the scoring in the Super Eagles’ recent 3-3 draw against Russia in Nizhny Novgorod), he has now scored in 10 straight games for club and country this season.

Bursaspor have scored 17 goals in the 2026–27 campaign so far, with Iheanacho involved in 82.4% of them.
The result left Bursaspor on 19 points, three points behind leaders Kayserispor. Their club’s next match is away at Muğlaspor on Thursday, 15 October.
Iheanacho joined Bursaspor as a free agent in the summer of 2026 after leaving Celtic. He has been in outstanding form, earlier equalling (and later surpassing) club scoring-streak marks previously held by Fernandao from the 2014/15 season.
The former Manchester City and Leicester City star helped Celtic win both the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Cup double.
