Former Fox Sports reporter Julie Stewart-Binks reveals skin cancer diagnosis at 39 after mystery absence from TV

SNY broadcaster Julie Stewart-Binks revealed that she has been off the air after being diagnosed with skin cancer.

Stewart-Binks, a veteran broadcaster who made career stops at ESPN, Barstool Sports and Fox Sports, revealed that she needed to undergo surgery to remove cancer from her nose.

‘Personal note: I haven’t been on TV or working the past two weeks because I had Moh’s surgery to remove squamous cell carcinoma from my nose,’ Stewart-Binks wrote.

‘I thought it was a pimple that wouldn’t go away, turns out it was cancer. I share this so that hopefully it inspires others to get checked is something feels/looks off.’

Fortunately for Stewart-Binks, the procedure was enough to completely address the health issue.

‘The cool part about this, is not only did they remove all the cancerous cells, but they grafted part of my ear onto my nose,’ she added.

The Canadian broadcaster joked: ‘I’ve played hockey my entire life, but never felt more like a hockey player than I do now. Sew me up and put me in coach.’

Stewart-Binks, a native of Toronto, covered the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks on local television.

This led to her being promoted to Fox Sports 1 at a time when the network was just getting started.

She subsequently stopped at ESPN, Barstool and Fubo TV – but has returned to hockey.

Stewart-Binks worked as a rinkside reporter for TNT in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs. She now hosts Honda SportsNite on the New York area sports network while also contributing to their hockey coverage.

In January 2025, Stewart-Binks filed a lawsuit against Fox Sports and former executive Charlie Dixon, alleging Dixon pushed her against a wall and forcibly kissed her after a work meeting in 2016.

Dixon, who was subsequently fired from the network after being placed on administrative leave for a separate sexual battery complaint, denied any ‘sexual or offensive contact’ with Stewart-Binks.

In July 2025, she asked to dismiss the suit and issued a statement saying the ‘matter has been resolved.’
