NFL quarterback Jayden Daniels has lifted Washington Commanders fans’ hopes as he inches closer to a return this week.
The starting signal caller, 25, has been sidelined for the past two weeks after suffering a dislocated left elbow in the Commanders’ 37-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.
Daniels missed Washington’s last two clashes – a dramatic 33-31 win over the Seattle Seahawks and a 30-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, the latter of which saw backup quarterback Marcus Mariota leave the field injured.
However, head coach Dan Quinn eased fans’ fears over the team’s quarterback room as he revealed that Daniels could make his return this week.
Daniels will practice in full this week with the hope that he will start against the New York Giants in Washington on Sunday.
Daniels dislocated his left elbow against the Cowboys on September 20 when he tried to brace himself after he lost his footing after an offensive lineman stepped on his foot.

As he was going to the ground, Daniels held his hand out to break his fall, only for his non-throwing elbow to buckle.
The injury left Fox analyst and legendary quarterback Tom Brady shell-shocked on the network’s call of the game.
Video replay clearly showed a pop in Daniels’ arm, causing both Brady and on-air partner Kevin Burkhardt to grimace in pain.
‘Oh, s***,’ Brady said on the broadcast before he quickly caught himself and said, ‘Excuse me.’
Daniels suffered the same injury last November, which kept the Washington Commanders quarterback out for a month before he tried to play again and aggravated it.
Mariota stepped up once again in Daniels’ absence, starting the past two weeks. However, he added to the Commanders’ injury woes on Sunday when he suffered a sprained MCL of his right knee.

Quinn said on Monday that the timetable for the second-string quarterback’s return remains uncertain.
Mariota suffered the same injury in an August 14 preseason game versus the Miami Dolphins. He was able to return to practice on September 1 following August’s setback.
Mariota led field goal drives on his only two series Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts for a 6-0 lead in London.
Rookie seventh-round pick Athan Kaliakmanis stepped in after Mariota exited, completing 15-of-33 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown with one interception.
