Odell Beckham Jr turns on the New York Giants in furious social media tirade after being brutally cut: 'I should have known better'

Odell Beckham Jr. could be playing for another NFL team had he not gotten ‘the run along’ from the New York Giants, the free-agent receiver wrote in an online tirade.

Responding to an Instagram post five days after his release, Beckham expressed both surprise and frustration with coach John Harbaugh’s decision.

‘[I don’t know] why they even gave me the run along,’ Beckham wrote on Instagram. ‘I [could have] really been playing this year somewhere and making [an] impact and I mean that from a person whose (sic) humbled by God and life.’

Beckham failed to record a catch and was targeted only once in limited action for the Giants, who improved to 3-1 with Sunday’s dramatic win over the visiting Arizona Cardinals.

The former All-Pro was returning to the team where he started his career as a first-round pick in 2014. This time, however, he joined the Giants as a training camp-invite without any guarantee of making the roster.

Despite missing the 2025 season amid a six-game ban for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy, Beckham not only made the 53-man roster out of camp, but was given his old No. 13 jersey. But, as he explained on Instagram, the triumph of making the Giants at 33 was quickly replaced by disappointment.

‘I’m super smart!!!!’ he wrote on Instagram. ‘But I didn’t see this one, my brotha. They got me!!!’

‘I came in HUMBLY,’ he continued, ‘took vet min then EARNED my spot [and] didn’t say nothing bout no $$ which I [know] make for everybody.’

Beckham’s deal was worth $1.3 million, of which he received about $220,000 this season, according to Spotrac.com.

As he wrote on Instagram, he ‘shoulda known better.’

‘Now let me [tell you] the [real] deal truth [that] hurt my heart to the core is [coming] home and seeing my son and how happy he was with no idea of what happened and talkin’ [about] my job [and] jersey number 13 broke me [the f***] down,’ Beckham continued.

Beckham was previously cut by Harbaugh in Baltimore four years ago following disappointing production for the 2023 Ravens.

Responding to an Instagram post five days after his release, Beckham expressed both surprise and frustration with coach John Harbaugh’s decision to cut him on September 29

Harbaugh has explained his decision by saying it was ‘tough,’ but admitting the team wasn’t ‘getting enough’ out of him.

‘It just wasn’t working for us,’ Harbaugh said Wednesday. ‘Like I told him, I wanted to be able to get more. I wanted him to be able to do more. I wanted to get him on the field more. For whatever reason, we weren’t able to do it, put it on us. We weren’t able to get it done. But at this point in time, that’s kind of where we were and we needed to move on.

‘I did hope he would get more chances,’ Harbaugh continued. ‘He didn’t. That’s where we stood. So, I felt like that being the case, we’re not going to be able to get it done. Roster spot wise, we need more out of that spot.

‘And that’s what we’re going to do. Nothing about Odell. Nothing that he could do in that sense. It’s just we weren’t able to get it done, make it fit, make it work, whatever you want to call it. And I was hoping we could and we didn’t.’
