Former Anambra State Governor and NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi was among the spectators at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Sunday as Ikorodu City defeated Rangers International 2-0 in an NPFL Matchday Six fixture.
Obi watched the match from the stands alongside Ikorodu City President, Sanmi Doherty, as the Lagos-based club secured all three points against the reigning league champions.
Images and videos from the stadium showed Obi following the action and interacting with people around him. He also took photographs with some fans during the half-time break.
On the pitch, Ikorodu City took the lead in the eighth minute through Aderemi Adeoye, while Ikechukwu Junior doubled the advantage in the 63rd minute to seal the 2-0 victory.
The Matchday 6 fixtures produced 15 goals across 10 matches, with two games ending in draws.
Abia Warriors recorded one of the biggest victories of the weekend, beating Bendel Insurance 3-0.
Ikoi Etta opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Emeka Obioma scored twice in the 24th and 40th minutes to give the home side a comfortable victory.
Newly promoted Kun Khalifat also picked up an important 1-0 win over Kwara United. Igwe Igweuzo scored the only goal in the 64th minute, while Kwara United finished the game with 10 men after Mighty Emmanuel was sent off.
Nasarawa United defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0, with Harrison Ebah scoring the winning goal in the 20th minute.
Warri Wolves also secured a 1-0 home victory over Shooting Stars. Othuke Egbo scored in the eighth minute to give the hosts an early lead.
Katsina United came from behind to beat Doma United 2-1.
Luis Dadong gave Katsina United the lead from the penalty spot in the 12th minute, but Sadiq Rilwan equalised for Doma United in the 33rd minute.
Mukhtar Ismail then scored the winning goal in the 75th minute to complete Katsina United’s comeback.
Plateau United defeated Inter Lagos 2-0, with Gideon Monday opening the scoring in the 56th minute before Jibrin Ibrahim added the second goal in the 76th minute.
In Kano, Kano Pillars and Enyimba played out a goalless draw.
The point was significant for Enyimba, who were looking for their first points of the campaign after losing their opening four league matches.
Earlier, Sporting Lagos and Barau FC played out a 1-1 draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
Joseph Atule put Barau FC ahead from the penalty spot before Sodiq Ayoade equalised for Sporting Lagos in the second half.
