The San Francisco 49ers injury curse has struck again after star defensive end Nick Bosa was ruled out for ‘multiple weeks’ with a calf injury suffered in practice.
Bosa is now one of six members of the Niners defense to go down in just the past fortnight, while a host of offensive talents have also been sidelined through the first three weeks of the NFL season.
The news of Bosa’s injury was first reported by NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter, the former tweeting: ‘Pro Bowl DE Nick Bosa suffered a calf injury in practice this week and is expected to miss a few weeks.
‘He’s out this week against the #AZCardinals and TBD on whether he lands on IR.’
In just the last two weeks, the 49ers have lost Alfred Collins to a season-ending torn patellar tendon, Sam Okuayinonu to a broken foot, James Thompson Jr to a high ankle sprain, Romello Height to a broken hand and CJ West to a bone chip in his knee.
Additionally, Mykel Williams is still on the PUP list from a torn ACL he suffered last season, leaving the defense incredibly stretched.

The former Defensive Player of the Year will be a big loss for an already injury-ravaged roster
On offense, WR1 Mike Evans is day-to-day and a potential doubt for this weekend, while fellow receiver Demarcus Robinson is also not practicing with a high ankle sprain.
Rookie wideout De’Zhaun Stribling got injured in Week 1, Christian Kirk is still ‘a couple of weeks away’ from being healthy, and is in the second month of a nine-month recovery period after undergoing knee surgery in mid-August.
Conspiracy theories about the 49ers’ injury curse have swirled for years, bursting into the public consciousness early this year when the team even launched an investigation into the substation alongside the practice facility.
General manager John Lynch told the media the organization would investigate ‘everything’ into why so many stars were being struck down by injury, later insisting that it was a ‘big nothing burger.’

The investigation revealed that ‘EMF exposure was approximately 400 times below what would constitute an unsafe working environment’, yet the injuries have continued to pile up.
Even players themselves have questioned whether the substation may be behind their continued bad luck, with Dre Greenlaw admitting that he thought ‘Man what the hell going on over here?’ before ultimately deciding to re-sign with the team.
Previously, Kendrick Bourne was asked about the mounting injuries after George Kittle suffered a torn Achilles, and he joked to reporters: ‘Yeah, it’s that power plant.’
